Research Scientist and Postdoctoral/Positions in Cancer Immunoprevention/Immunotherapy and Autoimmunity
University of Missouri
Columbia, MO, USA
The Immunomodulation and Translational Research Program in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, currently has three open positions: two for postdocs and one for a research scientist. These positions involve participation in federally funded projects that focus on targeted immunomodulation related to autoimmunity, with an emphasis on type 1 diabetes and cancer immunoprevention/immunotherapy. Our team has developed a range of novel immune ligands and demonstrated their therapeutic efficacy in the contexts of type 1 diabetes and cancer. Notably, a biologic named SA-4-1BBL has shown prophylactic efficacy against various tumor types by triggering an immune surveillance mechanism. This discovery is significant as it is the first of its kind and holds considerable translational potential. Applicants with cancer interest will explore the mechanisms underlying the cancer immunoprevention effects of SA-4-1BBL and identify new targetable pathways to develop a universal cancer immunoprevention platform for high-risk individuals.
We also focus on targeted immunomodulation for type 1 diabetes using various biologics and delivery vehicles. We seek candidates with extensive knowledge and practical experience in autoimmunity, cancer immunotherapy, vaccinology, relevant mouse and humanized models. Additionally, candidates should have hands-on experience with immune cell functional assays and flow cytometry. We seek self-motivated, innovative individuals who have ambitious career goals. Our expanding program offers postdocs and research scientists exceptional opportunities to grow and achieve their career objectives. The program is in the NextGen building, which features state-of-the-art facilities and an outstanding research environment fostering collaboration and career development. We offer a competitive salary and benefits.
