Postdoctoral Research Associate
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis
St. Louis, MO, USA
The Mavers Lab at Washington University in St. Louis focuses on advancing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation through innovative cellular therapies. We investigate immune regulation to combat graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and enhance graft-versus-tumor (GVT) effects. Employing advanced analyses and immune cell engineering, our goal is to translate discoveries into effective treatments for GVHD prevention and cancer targeting.
We seek a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate the therapeutic potential of human and murine invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells in GVHD and GVT. This role offers the opportunity to independently drive research projects through well-designed experimentation and data interpretation, maintaining high work ethics. The candidate will utilize advanced immunologic techniques, including mouse and xenograft models, transgene delivery/gene editing, immunologic assays, and single-cell omics. Beyond technical training, Dr. Mavers provides mentorship and sponsorship to foster scientific growth and career development towards academic, industrial, or governmental research positions.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree
- At least one peer reviewed first-author research article and experience in presenting at national meetings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive research experience in immunology (preferred) and/or cell biology, molecular biology
- Previous experience with analysis of immune cells, use of pre-clinical GVHD models, and/or lentiviral transduction/CRISPR will be considered an advantage
