Senior Scientist Translational Research

Senior Scientist – Translational Research 

Vancouver, WA, onsite or Hybrid (50%)

As a Senior Scientist in Translational Research at Absci, you will spearhead the design and execution of translational strategies for early-stage assets, leveraging your deep scientific knowledge and understanding of disease biology. Your role will encompass both the forward translation of preclinical experiments and the reverse translation of clinical trial insights to drive program progression.

Responsibilities: 

  • Drug Target Validation: Provide key translational insights to support drug target validation and selection, enhancing Absci’s drug creation pipeline.
  • Translational Strategy: Serve as the primary contact for the design and implementation of translational strategies based on a robust disease biology understanding.
  • Program Progression: Generate and interpret pharmacological efficacy, pharmacokinetic, safety, and toxicological data in collaboration with disease biology experts to advance programs.
  • Study Design and Execution: Design and execute translational and toxicological studies, ensuring rigorous scientific standards.
  • CRO Management: Oversee preclinical CRO activities, including project design, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Clinical Strategy Contribution: Contribute to the development of early clinical strategies by leveraging biomarker insights.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with project team members across disciplines to rapidly advance projects into clinical development.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including investigators, Key Opinion Leaders, and health authorities.
  • Publications and Presentations: Contribute to scientific publications and patents, and present results at scientific conferences and meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: PhD in Life Sciences (Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biology) with 5+ years of relevant experience in drug discovery or clinical development.
  • Translational Research Experience: Proven experience in translational research and/or early clinical trials, preferably with biologics, including interactions with health authorities (e.g., IND/CTA filings).
  • Industry Expertise: Documented industry experience in translating early research into preclinical and clinical development activities, including coordination with CROs and consultants.
  • Drug Discovery Proficiency: Demonstrated track record in drug discovery with expertise in in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, biomarker identification and validation, ADME/PK, and toxicology.

The salary range for this position is $127,000 – $165,000/year. Competitive equity package applies. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to equity, compensation packages include a wide range of medical, dental, vision benefits and ability to participate in our employee stock purchase plan.

Professor of Medicine

The Sarcoidosis Center of Excellence seeks to investigate sarcoidosis pathogenesis through basic and translational investigations. The lab is seeking the position of Postdoctoral fellow, Research Associate or Laboratory Research Specialist.

    Essential functions include experience with flow cytometry, ELISA, immunoblotting, CSFE, nucleic acid extractions, ficolling, imaging techniques, murine harvest and surgery. Willingness to learn more advanced immunology such as ScRNA seq, transcriptomics and microbiome analysis is important.

      Postdoctoral position, Research Associate

        Duties & Responsibilities:  Postdoctoral research positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Sergio D. Catz at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California. We are looking for highly motivated scientists to contribute to our research projects designed to study the crosstalk between vesicular trafficking mechanisms and neutrophil function in the context of inflammation and infection. The selected scientists will join our efforts to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of vesicular transport, focusing on the roles of small Rab GTPases and their effectors in exocytosis, endosomal maturation and migration. The candidates will use a combination of molecular, cellular, genetic and drug-discovery approaches and will be trained in state-of-the-art microscopy techniques including super-resolution microscopy. Investigators will use genetically modified mouse models of disease and human neutrophils.

        Requirements: A Ph.D. in cellular biology and or molecular biology is required. Preferred candidates should have experience in molecular biology and cellular biology. Technical proficiency in super-resolution microscopy and/or TIRF microscopy, as well as in flow cytometry, molecular biology, and/or biochemical techniques, is preferred but not required.

        Location: The research will take place in the Department of Molecular Cellular Biology at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California, which provides an outstanding research environment.

        Postdoctoral Research Associate, Cancer Immunology

        Are you interested in studying the immune response to skin cancer? If you are, the College of Medicine-Phoenix is searching for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the cancer immunology laboratory of Dr. Karen Hastings within the Department of Dermatology.

          Our basic science and translational projects span from antigen presentation, prediction of immunogenic neoantigens, to T cell-mediated control of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, utilizing immunological, cellular and molecular biological techniques, mouse models, human specimens, and bioinformatics.

          We are looking for applicants with wet lab immunology research experience driving the successful completion of projects and authoring peer-reviewed research publications. Applicants should be highly motivated, conscientious, able to work independently under direction of the principal investigator, and have the ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.

          Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Neuroimmunology & Mucosal Immunology

          The Wang Lab at the Institute of Molecular Biology, Academia Sinica (Taiwan), is seeking a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic, collaborative, and supportive research team. We welcome candidates with expertise in immunology, cell biology, and molecular biology, particularly those with a background in neuroimmunology and mucosal immunology.

          About the Wang Lab
          Established in October 2022, our lab is well-funded by multiple sources, including startup grants, intramural funding, the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS). Our research focuses on a fundamental biological question: how immune homeostasis is maintained at tissue barriers. We investigate how immune cells adapt to environmental factors and acquire regulatory functions to support tissue homeostasis. These studies aim to uncover mechanisms that enable tissue-resident immune cells to prevent inappropriate immune responses, which can lead to autoimmune disorders, allergies, chronic infections, and cancer.

          Current Research Interests

          • B cell tolerance in the meninges
          • Meningeal B cells in neurodegenerative diseases
          • Eosinophils and Group 3 innate lymphoid cells in host defense and mucosal immunity

          Preferred Qualifications

          • Expertise in molecular and cellular techniques, including but not limited to FACS analysis, cell culture, and molecular cloning
          • Experience with Confocal imaging and two-photon imaging
          • Experience with mouse models of disease and mouse breeding (preferred but not required)

          Compensation & Benefits
          Competitive salary based on experience, following the NIH salary scale and Academia Sinica guidelines (starting from USD $61,008/year)
