Location
Northwest Territory and Yukon Territory; remote communities including Sahtu Region, Fort Good Hope, Colville Lake and Self Governing First Nations Canada.
Contractual Commitment Required. Must be willing to commit to three-year contract in the Northwest Territory or Yukon Territory Canada.
Salary
Salary will range between $200,000.00 – $300,000.00 CAD
Education
- Medical Degree Issued by a school listed in the world directory of medical schools
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Version – Taken within the previous 24 months and achieved a minimum of 7.0 in each band
- Or Occupational English Test (OET) Medicine Version – Taken within the previous 24 months and achieved a minimum grade of B.
- Or Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) General – Taken within the previous 24 months and achieved a minimum grade of 9 in all sections.
Assessment of Medical Education
Medical Education Credentials will be assessed preliminarily. Potential Candidates will be to provide Curriculum Vite and have an interview with the hiring committee.
Medical Education will be reviewed; priority is given to those with Educations from the following background: Australia; New Zealand; Hong Kong; Singapore; South Africa; Switzerland; Uk; Ireland.
Terms of Employment:
- Conditional Practice License Until Full Accreditation Under the Practice Ready Assessment Framework. Full registration requires the successful completion of Family Medicine or of Specialty residency in Canada; qualification from the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC); and certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
- Physicians (including IMGs) who don’t hold such national certifications, but who meet Provincial Register requirements may be placed on the Provincial Register Conditional Practice
upon successful completion of the Practice Ready Assessment process administered through the Practice Readiness Assessment. - Participation is possible only after the provincial regulatory body determines whether that applicant meets the requirements.
Continuity of Practice
Must have practiced 450 hours within the last 3 years.
Medical Training and Experience
- One year of post graduate training in family medicine (length depending on specialization) and Two years of unsupervised licensed practice in family medicine (acting as the most responsible physician)
- Core rotations
- 8 weeks in family medicine or general practice
- minimum of 4 weeks in surgery,
- minimum of 4 weeks in internal medicine,
- minimum of 4 weeks in pediatrics,
- minimum of 4 weeks in emergency medicine,
- minimum of 4 weeks in obstetrics and gynecology
- minimum of 4 weeks in psychiatry
Assessment of Licencing Exam
- Must register for MCCQE1; must pass the MCCQE1 within first year. Priority give to those that have:
- MCCQE1 – Canadian Exam
- OSCE- Canadian Exam
- USMLE – American Exam
- If the candidates do not have MCCQE1; and OSCE these will need to be done in the first year of work in Canada.
Specialization
- Family Medicine/ General practice
- Other specializations will be considered
Limited spaces available priority will be given to:
- Candidates with MCCQE1 or USMLE
- -Three-year recent practice in family medicine
- Other specialization
