Full-Time Research Opportunity

Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis
St. Louis, MO, USA

The Mavers Lab at Washington University in St. Louis focuses on advancing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation through innovative cellular therapies. We investigate immune regulation to combat graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and enhance graft-versus-tumor (GVT) effects. Employing advanced analyses and immune cell engineering, our goal is to translate discoveries into effective treatments for GVHD prevention and cancer targeting.

We seek a self-motivated growth-focused individual capable of performing intricate experiments to support projects in the lab under the direction of the Pl and/or experienced laboratory personnel. Further technical training opportunities range from basic to advanced immunology/molecular biology techniques including cloning, PCR, viral transduction, flow cytometry, bead-based and colorimetric assays, and RNA-sequencing. Dr. Mavers provides career mentorship, authorship to all contributing individuals, and potential opportunities for independent work.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 4 years required
  • Willingness to work with mice
  • Ability to make a two-year commitment to the position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous mouse experience (especially animal husbandry and experimental procedures) and tissue/cell culture experience is strongly preferred
  • Previous flow cytometry experience is preferred
  • Experience in one of the following assays would be a plus: PCR, viral transduction, bead-based and colorimetric assays, and RNA-sequencing
